The Presidium of the EUMA condemns the military attack on Ukraine as arbitrary aggression and violation of international law by Russia. This is incompatible with international conventions such as the sovereignty of states, the right of nations to self-determination and the inviolability of state borders.
At the same time, it is a massive attack on democracy and freedom. We stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and with all the people who are suffering from the war and who are working for peace, democracy and human rights throughout the region. In particular, we sympathise with all Russians who condemn the war themselves, even though they might suffer persecution.
