Information on the EUMA General Assembly 2021

22 Mar 2021

In our letter of February 2, 2021, we invited you to the EUMA GA2021 in Prague on June 5, 2021. We also pointed out that motions to the GA must be submitted by April 5,2021.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that after 4 years the election of the Presidium is coming up. According to the EUMA Articles, the number of seats in the Presidium is limited to one member per country. Presidium members are elected for a period of four years each. A single re-election is possible.

All members of the Presidium have declared that they would be willing to stand for re-election. However, further suggestions for candidates can of course still be made.

We ask you to send motions to the GA by April 5, 2021 and candidate nominations for the President, the Deputy-President and three further Vice-Presidents by April 30, 2021 to our Secretary General Andreas Aschaber (andreas.aschaber@european-mountaineers.eu).

The current pandemic situation does not allow yet to make a final decision on whether the GA 2021 can be held as a face-to-face meeting in Prague. For reasons of preparation, we will decide by April 15, 2021 and inform you immediately of the further course of actions.

The following scenarios are considered:

  1. If a face-to-face meeting is not possible in June, at least the 2020 financial report and the 2021 budget must be approved by the members by the end of June to comply with the Belgian requirements. This could be done in a videoconference on June 5, 2021.

We would then hold another GA on October 9, 2021 where all other agenda items, including the motions and elections, will be dealt with in a face-to-face meeting in Prague.

  1. If a face-to-face meeting is in principle possible in June, the GA 2021 will take place in Prague as planned on June 5, 2021. However, in this case it might still be necessary to combine personal attendance with videoconferencing for those persons facing difficulties with travelling.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or suggestions how to proceed with the implementation of the GA 2021.

We are looking forward to meeting you at the EUMA GA 2021.

With best regards,

Roland Stierle

on behalf of the EUMA Presidium
